Chalk Paint Delight

Hi Girls,
This is my first attempt with chalk paint. My love of wood, fix, paint or build furniture I have been doing for several years but never before had tried to use the Chalk Paint. A few months ago I saw a post by Elizabeth and Co. , describing how to prepare homemade Chalk Paint and decided to try. The advantage of not having to sand caught my attention, not to say that I fall  in love with the idea, LOL. I send her an email asking where to get some materials that I was getting hard to find, she very kindly shared the information with me. This is the best in "Blog Land" there are many girls who share their knowledge generously.

Sharon, Thank you very much for your help.

A while back, I found this piece for $ 80 at a Thrift store, but had not decided how to paint and stayed hidden in my garage. It is a piece with good lines and sturdy in its construction, not pressed wood which taste more. I painted it in Valspar Satin White, stained it with Minwax  in Dark Walnut ( My favorite stain color) and sealed it with Minwax  Finishing Paste. The brass hardware was in awesome condition so I gave them a coat of Rust-Oleum  in Oil Rubbed Bronze.    I am very pleased how the piece looks now.

Well  see the pictures of how it turned out my first attempt with this type of paint.

This is the piece before, not bad but nothing spectacular...
I think it looks better now. What do you think?

See you soon,
Eve

  2. Terrific job, Eve. I'm justing starting to paint furniture, haven't tried the chalk paint yet. But think it's next on the list of projects for a couple of pieces I have lined up. Thanks for sharing this over at the POP party.
